School-University Partnership Internship Program (SUP)
IntroductionThe School-University Partnership Internship Program option is a two-year internship in which successful candidates are compensated for full-time classroom teaching while satisfying the requirements for the Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential. This program is sequentially planned and candidates will take classes as a member of a cohort (group).
The SUP Internship Program offers:

Application Process
- ATTEND A GROUP ADVISEMENT SESSION: These orientation sessions, held twice a month, are required of all students who wish to enroll Multiple Subject Credential Program. For information regarding
upcoming sessions, please call 408-924-3771 or click here for a schedule. If you live outside the Bay Area, please study the Advisement Guide for program requirements, and admission information; then contact the Director of Admissions and Advisng at bill.goodrich@sjsu.edu.
- APPLY TO THE MULIPLE SUBJECTS TEACHING CREDENTIAL PROGRAM: Follow the general application process for admission to the credential program through the Elementary Education Department. On the application form, indicate your interest in the SUP Internship Program. Your initial meeting with the advisor in the Department of Elementary Education will help you determine if the SUP Internship Program is right for you. Your file will then be forwarded to the internship program coordinator and you will be contacted for an interview.
Intern Selection Process
- Paper screening of all applications will be done by the university and credential program admissions advisor.
- First interview for candidates who pass paper screening will be done by the internship program coordinator.
- Second interview for candidates invited into the program will be done jointly by the internship program coordinator and district representative.
NOTE: Candidates accepted to the internship program who are not successful in getting a teaching position will be automatically transferred into the basic credential program.
