Apply Now for 2025-2026: On-Campus Editorial Internship

Gain professional writing experience and build a portfolio without leaving campus!

SJSU's College of Humanities and the Arts offers a unique opportunity for students to get hands-on experience as members of the H&A Student Marketing Team. In this 3-unit internship course* in SJSU’s College of Humanities and the Arts, editorial interns write articles for the college’s Expressions newsletter, write and edit promotional content for college programs, and collaborate with design, photography and film students.

You'll write about students, faculty members and alumni in H&A's departments and schools: Art and Art History, Design, English and Comparative Literature, Film and Theatre, Humanities, Linguistics and Language Development, Philosophy, World Languages and Literatures, Journalism and Mass Communications, and Music and Dance.

* This internship course is open to aspiring writers in all majors and counts as an upper-level elective.

About HA-187: Creative Team Practicum, Editorial

In spring 2025, the editorial team will meet in person on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10:30 - 11:45 a.m. Class meetings will consist of a short lesson or writing/editing workshop, a team check-in with the college’s internship coordinator, and/or time to work on projects. Depending on the workload for any particular week, we sometimes conclude meetings early.

In addition to class meetings, interns will also work 6 hours a week for the marketing office (on the aforementioned writing/editing assignments). These additional hours may be completed in person and/or remotely.

By the end of the semester, you'll have a portfolio of professional, published work—and practical experience working on a cross-functional (writing, design, photography, film) creative team.
