Summer 2024 Sparta Camp Student Orientation Advising
College of Science Student Success Center (CoS-SSC) Orientation Advising is group advising for incoming declared College of Science Students hosted during Day 2 of Sparta Camp.
Fall 2024 College of Science first year students will be invited to a Orientation Advising Canvas course. Students must login to their SJSU Canvas account to view and accept this invitation.
Avoid Enrollment Delays
To the best of your availability, CoS-SSC recommends the following tasks be completed at least 1 week before scheduled Sparta Camp to avoid enrollment delays during Orientation Advising:
- Review your Next Steps Portal and complete all outstanding tasks
- Complete Spartan Link Online Orientation Module
- Complete the Precalculus Proficiency Assessment and/or submit any external credit (official transcripts and/or AP/IB official scores, if available to you) directly to SJSU for processing, posting, and approval
- Complete the Reflection on College Writing (RCW) by the deadline
- Review your MySJSU Messages and SJSU email inbox for any additional tasks to complete before Sparta Camp Orientation
- Plan your involvement with campus life and health, wellness, and student services
Post Orientation Advising
Post Orientation Academic Advising appointments are available to students who have completed their Summer 2024 Sparta Camp Orientation. Appointments can be scheduled through Spartan Connect.

Summer 2024 Spartan Experience for Transfers (SET) Orientation Advising
College of Science SET Orientation Advising is group advising for incoming declared College of Science students during their scheduled Summer 2024 SET Orientation with their department representatives.
Post Orientation Major Advising
Post Orientation Major Advising is available to students after completing their SET orientation, please refer to your major's department chair or attend Transfer Orientation Advising.
Post Orientation GE/University Advising
Post orientation General Education and University Requirement Advising is available to College of Science students who have completed their Summer 2024 Sparta Camp Orientation. Appointments can be scheduled with a CoS-SSC Advisor through Spartan Connect.
