An assessment of the Campus Climate for Inclusion

San Jose State is committed to academic excellence, diversity and inclusion. One of the many desired outcomes of Transformation 2030 is to “foster an inclusive environment and infrastructure where diverse populations can flourish.” During the Spring of 2019, SJSU began an assessment of the campus climate for inclusion. The goals of this process are to uncover challenges facing members of our university community, identify successful initiatives and develop strategic initiatives to build on the successes and address the challenges.

During November of 2020, initial findings of the belong@SJSU survey were presented to the campus community. Video recordings as well as presentation materials from these virtual Town Halls can be found in the Findings section of this site.

belong@SJSU Timeline: Where Are We Now?

The belong@SJSU assessment of the campus climate for inclusion project is approaching its conclusion. Town Halls that reviewed some of the findings of the belong@SJSU survey were reviewed in November. January and February will feature fora for Student, Faculty, and Staff groups. Feedback from these groups will be forwarded to a new and permanent campus-wide committee.
