Program Overview

Robotics and Autonomy are interdisciplinary technologies that are essential in many application areas such as manufacturing, transportation, aerospace, defense, healthcare, and beyond. Recently, the technologies have quickly grown in both defense and commercial industries, which results in the urgent needs of qualified personnel with deep knowledge in artificial intelligence, adaptive control, electrical and computer systems, programming, and a variety of other advanced topics.
 
The MSEE program with specialization in Robotics and Autonomy provides students with theoretical knowledge along with practical experience in the design and implementation of intelligent robots for multiple applications. Students will get a solid theoretical and practical background in a variety of topics including the design and implementation of adaptive control systems, automated mobility, sensor technologies, signal processing, computer vision, machine learning, reinforcement learning, real-time and embedded systems, robot kinematics.
 
Admission to this program requires a bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Science, or other similar engineering majors. Applicants with degrees in math, physics, or closely related science majors must have 2+ years of working experience in electrical, electronic, or computer engineering areas. All applicants are required to have 3.0 or above GPA (last 60 semester units or last 90 quarter units), admission may be granted to applicants with GPA between 2.75 and 3.0 if an applicant has qualifying professional experience in the engineering field. Valid TOEFL score of at least 80 if the bachelor degree was earned outside of the U.S.
