The California State University has a total impact of roughly $53 billion on the state of California, according to a comprehensive new report released last week. The impact study, "The California State University: Working for California," conducted by ICF Consulting, shows how the CSU system, either directly or indirectly, affects the economic, social, intellectual and cultural life in the state. For every dollar the state invests in the CSU, CSU-related expenditures generate $4.41 in spending, says the report. These expenditures create $13.6 billion annually in economic activity and support more than 207,000 jobs in the state. In addition, some $760 million in taxes is generated for the state???s coffers.
