This week, International Programs and Services, in collaboration with the Department of Hospitality Management, is celebrating its fifth annual International Week. As part of the activities, the campus community is invited to create peace flags outside the Student Union. Flag materials will be available for people to draw or write an interpretation of what peace means to them. See www2.sjsu.edu/depts/ipss/.

Outstanding SJSU students will be honored for their academic achievements at the annual Honors Convocation on Friday, April 16, 6 p.m., at the Event Center. Faculty members are invited to wear academic regalia and march in the opening processional. College offices have a listing of the Dean’s and President’s Scholars to be honored at this event. More than 2,000 students qualify to be honored this year. Outstanding Professor Jan English-Lueck is the special guest speaker. An RSVP line has been established at 408-924-2415 for faculty/staff with regalia who would like to participate in the event. Please respond by end of day, Monday, April 12.

SJSU’s Access Magazine, published by the School of Journalism and Mass Communications, won 14 awards in the 2004 Columbia Scholastic Press Association’s Gold Circle Awards for Colleges and Universities. A first-place award was won for Single Color Illustration that Complements the Content of the Copy; second-place awards went to an article written by magazine major Lea Blevins; another for the design of the spring 2003 cover; and third place was won for typography and photography.
