Preston Rudy, assistant professor of sociology, is knowledgeable on the comparative and historical method. Rudy conducted research for his dissertation on "Labor, Globalization and Urban Political Fields: A Comparison of Justice for Janitors in 3 California Cities." He looked at campaigns in Los Angeles, San Jose and Sacramento to evaluate the effect of globalization on the organizing of a new labor movement. Cornell University Press published his work this year. In addition, Rudy has numerous presentations, fellowships, awards and research appointments to his credit. Susan Lambrecht, assistant professor of biological sciences, comes to SJSU from UC Santa Cruz, where she served as a lecturer in the environmental studies department. Lambrecht has been awarded numerous grants and fellowships, including UC’s prestigious Presidential Postdoctoral Fellowship. She has taught botany, plant identification and ecology, and published and presented widely in her field. Lambrecht holds a doctorate in plant ecology from Oregon State University. Mary Warner, assistant professor of English, previously taught at Western Carolina University, in North Carolina. Warner has a variety of research interests: literature as a site of the sacred; young adult and children’s literature; English education methods; and information literacy. She is editor and author of two chapters in the book, Winning Ways of Coaching Writing: A Practical Guide to Teaching Writing, Grades 6-12, published by Allyn and Bacon in 2001. Warner has also written numerous chapters, book reviews, essays and ERIC publications, and presented papers at national, regional and state/local conferences.
