Tutoring

Two Types of Tutoring to Support Your Learning

• Classic Tutoring
  Our classic tutors offer one-on-one appointments across a wide range of subjects, including writing support for both undergraduate and graduate students.
  
  
• Embedded Tutoring
  Embedded tutors are assigned to specific course sections and actively participate by attending every class. They provide tutoring appointments outside of class, offering support not only for that course but for other subjects as well.

Mentoring

Supporting Your Journey at SJSU

Peer Mentors are dedicated SJSU students who guide and empower their SJSU peers through the academic and social transition to university life. Having navigated similar challenges, they offer a relatable perspective and a confidential space to talk — unless there is a safety concern.

Supplemental Instruction

Supplemental Instruction (SI) at Peer Connections

SI Leaders support students in challenging "bottleneck" courses — required classes with higher failure rates that can delay progress toward a degree. SI Leaders attend their assigned classes and run workshops and study sessions outside of class, focusing on active student participation, course content, and learning strategies.
