What We Do

Vision

The Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) aims to facilitate the success of historically low-income, and educationally underserved students at San José State University and beyond, by fostering a holistic and sustainable support system that promotes academic excellence, personal growth, and a strong sense of belonging.

EOP envisions a future where equity gaps have been eliminated for all program participants, regardless of their backgrounds and identities, and their success surpasses the success outcomes of the general SJSU student population.

Mission

EOP strives to retain and ensure timely graduation for first-generation, historically limited-income, and educationally underserved college students. At SJSU EOP, we are committed to establishing a positive college experience for every student. We are dedicated to increasing access and academic excellence by offering intentional support services and multifaceted community engagement.

Advising 

EOP provides a holistic and sustainable support system to empower and enhance the experiences of first generation college students. Our advisors are committed and conscious of the academic and individual needs of every EOP student. By advocating for the development of student growth and accountability, we ensure personal, educational, and professional success beyond the degree.

The Educational Opportunity Program encompasses access, equity, inclusion, empowerment, and community.
