2022-2023 HonorsX

Public Square Event, July 28, 2023

Held both in the HonorsX classroom and also along the San Jose State campus’s central outdoor concourse, the HonorsX Public Square event was our summer showcase for the collaborative, multimedia group projects of our HonorsX students in 2023-24. Modeled upon the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Public Square, HonorsX Public Square served as an invitation to our students to create public-facing works that displayed their visions for a more sustainable future. Public Square presentations took many forms, from mapping and statistical analyses to writing-based productions, film and audio-based work, and more directly performative works.

The Silicon Valley Innovation Challenge (SVIC) is one of two programs offered through the Silicon Valley Center for Entrepreneurship at the Lucas College & Graduate School of Business, SJSU. The mission of the SVIC is to cultivate entrepreneurs and provide the necessary tools and guidance to enable students to take their innovative ideas to the next level. It is one of the largest events on campus with student participation from across our colleges. 45 finalist student teams displayed their poster boards to the judges. Additionally, one representative from each team delivered a 90-second pitch as part of the Elevator Pitch Competition at the finalist showcase event. Nathan Anico, Matthew Broyles, and Ermina Katherine took home the Best Social & Sustainable Innovation with their modular food compartment storage system, StoHunX.
