Bio

Dr. Vuthea Chheang is an assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science at San José State University (SJSU). Before joining SJSU, he was a postdoctoral research staff at the Center for Applied Scientific Computing at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) and a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Delaware. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Magdeburg in Germany (2022), an M.Eng. in Computer Science from Chungbuk National University in South Korea (2018), and a B.Sc. in Computer Science and Engineering from the Royal University of Phnom Penh in Cambodia (2015). His areas of expertise include extended reality (XR), human-computer interaction, and visualization. His research interests focus on interaction and visualization techniques, collaborative environments, and the development of XR applications for medical planning and training.
