Abigail

Abby is a first-generation student majoring in Justice Studies with a concentration in Criminology and a minor in Legal Studies. She joined the Record Clearance Project out of a passion for justice and a deep appreciation for the value of community. After graduating she plans to attend law school. Abby is fluent in Spanish and is learning her native language, Nahuatl, so that she can help represent her communities within the justice system. Abby sings with SJSU’s all-women a cappella choir, the Spartan Stellas, and is an officer for the club. In her free time she enjoys making crafts and crochet projects.

Alejandro

Alejandro is a first-generation Mexican-American college student who is majoring in Justice studies with a minor in Forensic Science. Passionate about advocacy and community empowerment, Alejandro is committed to using his education to support underserved communities and promote justice. With the Record Clearance Project, Alejandro is pleased to make a meaningful impact through service, representation, and continued learning. He speaks Spanish.

Alondra G Alondra G was born and raised in Livingston, California. She is majoring in Forensic Science with a concentration in Biology. Alondra is working with the mentoring team for her internship. Her goal after graduation is to become a Forensic Analyst, where she hopes to contribute to criminal investigations and help ensure accurate and fair outcomes.
Alondra V

Alondra V was born and raised in San Jose, California. She is a first-generation Mexican-American student majoring in Psychology with a double minor in Justice Studies and Legal Studies. She has a passion for helping others, especially those from underrepresented communities. Alondra plans to go to law school after graduation. She is grateful for the opportunity to join the Record Clearance Project and help expunge clients’ records. She is bilingual in English and Spanish.

Bita

Bita is a first-generation college student, who lived in the UAE before coming to the Bay Area. As a Justice Studies major focused on Criminology, she’s passionate about analyzing crime patterns and advocating for better policies in underserved communities. Bita is working with the RCP mentoring team this semester. She plans to pursue a master’s degree and a career in investigative work.

Brendan

Brendan is a Bay Area native pursuing his degree in Justice Studies/Legal Studies with the goal of attending law school. He joined the Record Clearance Project to further his knowledge and improve his skills in applying the law. Brendan serves on the boards of the prelaw society and the criminal justice honors society at SJSU. 

Charity

Charity is from Kansas City, Missouri before making the South Bay area her home. With five children and one grandchild, Charity is passionate about uplifting her community. She is serving her second term as the Director of Community at the San Jose Women's Club, a position she has held since 2022. After graduation, Charity plans to enter the SAGES Master’s degree program in Justice Studies at SJSU. Charity aims to share her personal testimony with those facing challenges, demonstrating that resilience and faith can move mountains. As an African American woman in today's society, she firmly believes that we can triumph over adversity and transform our struggles into powerful victories.

Claudia

Claudia was born and raised in Los Angeles. She is a first-generation student pursing a B.A. in Political Science with a minor in Legal Studies. Claudia has a passion for variety of topics ranging from immigration issues, to foreign affairs, and -- thanks to the Record Clearance Project -- most recently, criminal justice reform. With the goal of working as a U.S. diplomat, Claudia has gained insight through her work with the RCP regarding how policies and laws that are were once debated are now helping the lives of many people.

Hamish

Hamish is an international student from Auckland, New Zealand majoring in Justice Studies - Criminology. He moved to the United States in 2021 to begin college and play Water Polo. He believes we can learn something from everyone, and he finds work with the Record Clearance Project fulfilling in hearing people's stories and working for justice. Hamish plans to attend law school and pursue a career in criminal law as an attorney. 

Hannah

Hannah is in her fourth and final year of undergrad, majoring in Political Science with a minor in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. She plans to attend law school after receiving her bachelor’s degree. She is passionate about the work she does with the Record Clearance Project and looks forward to spreading more awareness about the program and its services.

Hy

Hy is majoring in Justice studies with a concentration in criminology. Hy's hobbies include gardening, art, and Photoshop. This semester, Hy will be assisting the mentoring program, building on his work providing expungement interviews and presenting record expungment information to clients.

Jasmine

Jasmine is a Los Angeles native, majoring in Political Science with a minor in Chicano and Chicana Studies. She is passionate about social justice, community activism, and public service, with experience working in advocacy. Jasmine plans to attend law school and become an attorney committed to helping others.

Jenny Jenny was born and raised in San Jose in low-income housing and, through the graces of financial aid, she was able to attend community college and then SJSU. Attaining two associate degrees in Sociology and Administration of Justice, Jenny is working towards a bachelors in Justice Studies with a concentration in Criminology. Jenny hopes to become a legal assistant after graduation.
Luna

Luna is a first-generation student majoring in Criminology. Her involvement with the Record Clearance Project led her to decide to attend law school after graduation. She wants to help her community and leave a positive impact. Luna speaks Spanish.

Mariana

Mariana is a first-generation student born and raised in San Jose. She is majoring in Justice Studies with a concentration in criminology. She applied to SJSU because she wanted to intern with the Record Clearance Project. RCP classes helped her determine that she wants to pursue a career as a criminal defense lawyer. Mariana speaks fluent Spanish.

Mirza

Mirza is a first-generation college student, born and raised in a multicultural household in San Jose. Majoring in Justice Studies, Mirza plans to graduate in Fall 2025. Experiences with restorative justice programs in school inspired Mirza to believe in second chances and the need for a more restorative justice system. Through the Record Clearance Project, Mirza developed skills in legal research, client communication, and community outreach which they hope to use in working at a legal aid organization that supports marginalized populations in navigating the justice system. Mirza speaks Bosnian.

Parker

Parker is a fourth-year Justice Studies major with a concentration in Criminology. She is excited to graduate in the fall and continue her career as a paralegal, and later attend law school. She will apply all that she has learned while working with the Record Clearance Project to continue helping create change in the justice system. Parker is grateful for the opportunity to assist people in clearing their records and help them to start their second chance.

Samir

Samir was born and raised in San Jose.  He is majoring in Justice Studies, with a concentration in Criminology. Samir plans to attend law school after graduation. He is excited to work with the Record Clearance Project to help people get their lives back.

Tiffany

Tiffany is a first generation Mexican/Colombian American. She graduates in Fall 2025 with a degree in Justice Studies with a concentration in criminology, and plans to apply to law school. Tiffany finds the Record Clearance Project is the most memorable part of her undergraduate education: she feels the experience to be life-changing not just for her clients but for her. Tiffany is excited to help more people during her last semester, particularly focusing on the mentoring program.

Tilly

Tilly is a first-generation college student majoring in Justice Studies with a minor in Economics. She joined the Record Clearance Project to help people navigate the criminal legal system and rebuild their lives. Tilly is interested in attending law school after graduation and pursuing a career in the legal field. She is fluent in Vietnamese.

Yulisa

Yulisa was born in Fresno and is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Criminology with a minor in Legal Studies. She plans to attend law school following her graduation. Yulisa values the opportunity that the Record Clearance Project provides to gain insight into the legal field while also contributing to a service that can have a life changing impact. She is fluent in Spanish.
