Transportation to and from SJSU
Avoid the stress of driving, traffic and parking by taking transit to San José State University. At the nexus of public transit in the South Bay, SJSU is uniquely-situated to benefit from a range of public transportation options from VTA bus and light rail, to BART, Caltrain, Amtrak, ACE and more. Commencement ceremonies are always held during weekdays, meaning public transit service will be operating under regular, peak weekday hours.
SJSU is also a ten minute rideshare from Mineta San José International Airport (SJC).
To ensure a smooth and stress-free experience on your graduate’s big day, all attendees shall purchase parking permits in advance. Stay tuned for a link to the fall 2026 parking permit portal.
Discounted parking permits will be available up to the date of the first Commencement ceremony for each semester.

To avoid heavy vehicle traffic and to reduce likely arrival delays, park in:
North Garage – Located at Tenth and San Fernando Streets
West Garage – Located at Fourth and San Salvador Streets
While parking is also available at the South Garage (Seventh and San Salvador Streets), space will be limited and traffic congestion is likely. Attendees who need accessible parking and close proximity to the Event Center should arrive earlier to avoid traffic and park at the South Garage. Spartans take care of Spartan, provide consideration to those with accessibility needs by parking in other campus garages.
Alternatively, parking is also available at the Park SJ city-owned garages located at Fourth Street and San Fernando and Second Street and San Carlos, both only one block to the edge of campus. Your first 90 minutes of parking at all downtown garages are free.
Provident Credit Union Event Center is located south of the North Parking Garage and northeast of the West and South Parking Garages. The Event Center is located across from the Student Wellness Center (SWC) or the Spartan Recreation and Aquatic Center (SRAC).
