Graduation & Commencement
Apply for graduation
If you are three semesters from graduating, apply for graduation [pdf]. Completing this step before the application deadline will give you priority registration for your remaining semesters. This also connects you to a graduation evaluator who will work with you to ensure that all degree requirements on your MyProgress report have been met.
General Engineering / Interdisciplinary Engineering
Students in these majors use a hybrid online/paper application process. Any questions after the student has applied online for graduation via MySJSU should be directed to the IDE major advisor, Ahmed Banafa.
Keep on track for graduation (use early and often):
- Steps to Graduation brochure [pdf] (latest version)
- Path to Graduation Quick Reference Guide [pdf] (2022 version)
- View a recording of our graduation workshop.
Participate in Commencement
Commencement is the ceremony most people think of as graduation. Commencement is ceremonial and does not confirm completion of graduation requirements.
Eligible students need to register for the in-person commencement ceremony. Those who have applied for graduation will receive instructions through email. For updated information and announcements, see the Commencement website and Instagram page.
If you have questions about commencement (eligibility, attending a ceremony other than Engineering's, tickets, etc.), please contact the Commencement team and include your student ID number.
Virtual Grad Fest
Open to all participating graduates: visit the Grad Fest website for more information about in-person commencement ceremonies, online recognition, vendor specials (academic regalia, class rings, graduation photos, gifts), and important deadlines!
