About Dr. Isaac Camarillo:

Isaac earned his Bachelor of Science in Forensic Science with a concentration in Biology from San José State University, a Master of Science in Forensic Biology from the University of Strathclyde, and a Doctorate in Forensic Science from Oklahoma State University.

He currently works at the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office Forensic Laboratory, where he is assigned to the DNA Unit. In addition to his work in forensic DNA analysis, he has experience in both controlled substance identification and blood alcohol analysis, and he serves as a member of the laboratory’s Crime Scene Investigation Unit. His professional credentials include certification as a Certified Crime Scene Investigator through the International Association for Identification and a Foundational Knowledge Certificate from the American Board of Criminalistics. He also contributes to the training and mentorship of biology interns through the laboratory’s year-long internship program. His professional affiliations include the California Association of Criminalists and the American Academy of Forensic Sciences.

As an alumnus of San José State University’s Forensic Science program, Isaac is excited to return to SJSU as an instructor and contribute to the program that helped shape his career in forensic science. He is passionate about mentoring and motivating students, sharing his professional experience, and helping students develop the knowledge and confidence to pursue their own goals within the forensic sciences.
