Welcome to the Mechanical Engineering Department at San José State University! It’s an exciting time to be here—our department sits in the heart of Silicon Valley, where engineering, technology, and innovation come together to shape the future.
I joined SJSU last summer, and one of my top priorities is strengthening our industry connections. Our proximity to leading technology companies gives us a unique opportunity to collaborate with industry partners, ensuring that our curriculum stays relevant and forward-thinking. We don’t just teach engineering principles—we prepare students to tackle real-world challenges, adapt to emerging technologies, and step confidently into the workforce.
Research is another key focus for us. We’re always thinking ahead, exploring new ideas that push the boundaries of mechanical engineering. From advanced manufacturing to AI-driven engineering solutions, our faculty and students are engaged in projects that have real impact. These efforts, combined with strong industry ties, help us drive innovation in both research and education.
