Admissions Requirements

There are a few California State University requirements to be eligible for admission to our programs. Even if you don't meet all of these requirements at this time, our Enrollment Counseling team will happily work with you to get you in a position to submit a successful application in the near future.

  • Complete all CSU Lower Division General Education requirements.

  • Complete all four CSU-approved general education requirements with a grade C- or higher.

    • (A1) Oral Communication/Speech

Change of Major to SJSU Online

SJSU students who are either currently enrolled in an on-campus program or have been enrolled in the previous two semesters and would like to transition to an SJSU Online program should meet with an academic advisor in their program of study before trying to change programs. If after speaking with an advisor in your program you decide to move forward with an application to SJSU Online, you should:

  1. Finish your current semester courses or work with your advisor to officially withdraw from your courses.

  2. Contact our SJSU Online Enrollment Counseling team to complete the next steps.

  3. Apply to your SJSU Online program of interest via Cal State Apply.

Program Exceptions

  • Currently enrolled, on-campus Lucas College of Business students are not eligible to transition into the SJSU Online Business Administration program and should meet with their academic advisor to discuss alternative options.

  • Currently enrolled, on-campus Health Care Leadership students are not eligible to transition into the SJSU Online Health Care Leadership program.

  • Currently enrolled, on-campus Public Health students are not eligible to transition into the SJSU Online Public Health program.

Reinstatement Requirements

If you were previously academically disqualified from continuing your enrollment at SJSU, reinstatement is a process that allows you to restore good academic standing so that you can reapply via Cal State Apply and become a fully matriculated student again. View a full outline of the reinstatement process on the SJSU Registrar website and contact our Enrollment Counseling team to support you through the process.
