Bicycles, Scooters and Personal Mobility Devices

As the California State University's most urbanized campus, SJSU is unique in its location in the heart of downtown San José. For many students, faculty and staff, getting to and from campus on bicycles, scooters and other mobility devices is an essential part of their commute. However, because of the dense campus footprint and large foot traffic, SJSU encourages all users of non-Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant mobility devices to be mindful of their speed and reduce the risk of injury to themselves or others.

The use of motorized devices (motorcycles, gasoline-powered scooters, etc.) are not permitted on campus grounds. All devices are not permitted indoors and must be stored in bike racks or the secure, locked bicycle enclosures.

Any device scooters, skate boards and bicycles left unattended on campus will be considered abandoned and subject to impound. Persons violating campus policy may be cited under California Vehicle Code (CVC) 21225, 21235, and other applicable CVC regulations and as a violation of student conduct.

The use of ADA mobility devices (wheelchairs, scooters, etc.) are allowed everywhere on campus.
