Research Opportunities
Student research assistants needed!
Faculty in the Psychology department conduct research alongside undergraduate and graduate research assistants, providing valuable hands-on experience for students interested in research-related careers and/or interested in pursuing graduate or medical school.
Most research assistant positions involve volunteering a few hours of your time each week, but occasionally there are paid opportunities.
Keep reading below to learn more about the research being conducted in the department and how to get involved.
Who to Ask
Briefly, this document lists faculty who have Psychology department research labs.
Alternatively, our professors can be found in Faculty by Program or Faculty and Staff, where faculty have a short description of their research interests.
How to Ask
Start by sending an email to the professor(s) whose research interest you. Keep your message short and sweet, similar to what’s provided below:
Hi Dr/Prof X, I’m a <insert year of school> majoring in Psychology, and I’m hoping to gain some research experience to better prepare me for <insert brief reason>. I’m really drawn to your research on <insert description of what aspect of their research interests you>. I’m wondering if you need any research assistants this semester? If so, I’m happy to provide my resume and transcript, as well as stop by your office hours. Thanks!
