Sources of Funding

The Center is funded by Associated Students, the California Department of Education (CDE), California Department of Social Services (CDSS), parent fees, Child Care Access Means Parents in Schools (CCAMPIS), and fundraising projects. CCAMPIS, CDE and CDSS funds are used to subsidize child care fees for low income student families.

Licensing

The Associated Students Child Development Center (ASCDC) is licensed by the State of California Department of Community Care Licensing, Child Care Division that directs health and safety procedures/standards. The Center receives regular visits from Licensing, and you may occasionally see Site Visit reports posted in our lobby. Many of the requirements of our program are based upon licensing regulations, and the Center maintains the high standards set by the State of California. The Center also operates under Title V of the Education Code of the California Department of Education (CDE) and the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) which dictates program standards, adult-child ratios, as well as staff qualifications.

Our program is offered year-round. Please see the current academic calendar to see the days we are closed for holidays and professional development. Families are required to pay for closure dates, unless informed by the center otherwise.

Wait List Application

Interested in enrolling your child into our center? To apply, complete the Waitlist Application [pdf]and email it to: as-cdc@sjsu.edu

The priority for enrolling new families into our center is as follows:

  1. San Jose State University students
  2. San Jose State University Alumni, Staff and Faculty
  3. Community

For San Jose State students, families are ranked based upon their indicated income on the waitlist application and prioritized lowest income first. San Jose State University student families may qualify for subsidized care through the California Department of Education and California Department of Social Services based upon their income and family size. This is why it is important to write your gross income (include wages, Financial Aid, Disability and all sources of income) on the wait list application. Students who do not qualify for subsidized care will then pay the daily student rate approved by the A.S. Board of Directors.

When a space becomes available, the Center Director will reach out to you via email and offer you the space. If you have questions about filling out the application or would like to update your application, please contact the center.
