Call for Papers: SJSU Graduate Student Conference - April 25th, 2025

The Department of English and Comparative Literature welcomes proposals for 15-20 minute paper presentations on any topic related to literary studies or creative writing for a one-day conference just for Bay Area graduate students.

We will form panels based on the topics/categories of the abstracts that students submit. For one of the panels, we are particularly interested in papers on or related to decolonizing literary studies. The conference will take place on April 25th from 12:30-3pm.

To apply to become a presenter, Please send a 250-word abstract of your paper to sjsugradconference@gmail.com by March 25, 2025.  The abstract can be from a seminar paper you have already completed or from a work in progress that you intend to finish before April.

If you have never submitted a proposal for a presentation before, don’t be intimidated! Feel free to contact us in the contact box below if you need help or have questions about what to do. Here are two sample abstracts that you can use as a reference.

The conference organizer is Dr. Allison Johnson, Assistant Professor SJSU English Department, with help from Prof. Maite Urcaregui and MA graduate student Deeptiman Kaushik.

Come share your work with SJSU students and faculty!
