Syllabus Review Process
An Ad hoc GE Review Panel (GRP) for each GE Area will be convened during the review semester to support this effort. The GRP will review the master syllabus for each course in their assigned GE Area and provide feedback on alignment with 2022 GE Guidelines, including both GE ALOs and content requirements.
For this review the coordinator of each course will submit the following:
- an annotated syllabus (one per course) designating assignments that assess GE ALOs, how content is met and how diversity is included;
- sample assignments or prompts for assignments that are used for assessing the GE ALOs
GRP members will review each course and provide feedback on alignment with 2022 GE Guidelines, including both GE ALOs and content requirements.
The GRP will make a recommendation to the General Education Advisory Committee (GEAC) as follows: Recertification, Revision, or, in rare cases, Discontinuation
Required revisions will be noted and sent to GEAC, who will work with the department to finalize the course. The Director of General Education and the GEAC Chair will be available for consultation if faculty need additional support revising their syllabus.
