Nourishing Communities

Nourishing Communities supports Latine immigrant families through culturally sustaining nutrition education. This means we provide programs that help young people reconnect with their family values and food traditions, while also promoting eating habits that can decrease the risk of chronic disease.
Instead of focusing only on nutrients and rules of "healthy" versus "not healthy", we take a people-first approach to food. We see food as a reflection of culture, a catalyst for family bonding, and a centerpiece of community celebration culture.
Nourishing Communities programs promote health equity and cultural resilience by leveraging voices in nutrition, public health, and child development, and by strengthening partnerships with community-based organizations to support community-led initiatives.
