Because the Ombudsperson does not have the authority or capacity to intervene in urgent or time-sensitive concerns, please contact the campus resources for urgent matters: 

Immediate life-threatening:  

• Dial 911 for all immediate emergencies, including criminal activity, fires, or medical crises.

Mental health crises: 

• Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) Crisis Line: 

  Call (408) 924-5910 and select option 4 to speak with a crisis counselor 24 hours a day.

• 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline: 

  Call or text 988 for a national resource for mental or behavioral health emergencies.

Non-emergency student behavioral concerns:

• Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT):
  Call (408) 924-6339 to report concerning or disruptive behavior that is not an immediate threat. You can also fill out a Concerning Behavior Referral Form online form on the SJSU Behavioral Intervention website.

Safety and security: 

• Campus police: 
  Contact the University Police Department (UPD) directly at 408-924-2222 for emergencies or to report suspicious activity.
