BACKGROUND:
Dr. Bejar-Lopez received his Ph.D. from the University of Notre Dame (2011). His research
interests include comparative political behavior and public opinion, elections and
campaigns, parties and party systems, international political economy, and political
methodology. His current research focuses on explaining the determinants and effects
of programmatic and affective political polarization as well as the determinants of
the electoral success of authoritarian populist parties, with an emphasis on Latin
America. He also conducts research in survey, experimental and statistical methods.
His research has been published in a variety of academic journals including Comparative
Political Studies, Conflict Management and Peace Science, the Review of International
Political Economy, Latin American Politics and Society, Economics of Governance, and
the Journal of Open Source Software among others.
