Interview Phase - Initial Interview

After the scoring process is completed, the highest-ranked applicants (typically approximately 60–70 applicants) will be invited to participate in a virtual interview with the SJSU Clinical Laboratory Science (CLS) Department. As we receive large numbers of highly-qualified applicants to our training program, this first round interview is meant to gauge the fit of applicants with our training program. What we are most interested in is hearing about who you are, your educational and career path thus far, why you are interested in the clinical laboratory, and why you feel you'd be successful (similar to the narrative you provided in your personal statement). You will also have the chance to address any questions you may have to the admissions team.

Interview Phase - Training Site Interview

After the initial interview is completed, selected applicants will be invited to participate in on-site affiliate visits and interviews with clinical training sites.

  • Each affiliate conducts its own interview;
  • Affiliates determine whom they wish to rank;
  • Applicants have the opportunity to learn about the affiliate and ask questions.
