BACKGROUND:
Ali Kashani holds a Ph. D. in philosophy. He teaches courses in continental philosophy,
social and political philosophy, political theory, ethics, critical theory, post-structuralism,
anarchism, and feminist philosophy.
He is the author of Radical Generosity: Resisting Xenophobia, Considering Cosmopolitanism,
(Rowman & Littlefield, 2019), ‘Machine Rationality and the Logic of Social Control
and Domination’ in a volume entitled Meditations on Resistance: An Inquiry into AI,
Critical Media Literacy, and Social Justice, (Peter Lang Publishing, 2024). ‘Media
and Ethics: The Public Sphere, Truth-Telling, and Practice of Freedom’ in a volume
entitled Lost in Media: Ethics of Everyday Life, (Peter Lang Publishing, 2013).
His current research focuses on ethics and politics of artificial intelligence (AI).
He is also working on three book projects entitled, Machine Rationality and the Logic
of Social Control and Domination, Critical Resistance: In the Time of Crisis, and
Social Control: Power, Truth, Specters of Democracy.
