Instructional Student Assistant
Duties
Under supervision, the Instructional Student Assistant (ISA) performs teaching, grading or tutoring duties for the majority of work hours in a given appointment in a given academic department or equivalent administrative unit over the course of an academic term. Duties may include holding tutoring or office hours. Consult either the Department Chair or the Admin Analyst to determine which courses may need ISAs each semester.
Minimum Qualifications
- Ability to learn and perform assigned work;
- Work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students, and accept responsibility;
- Completion of specific coursework may be required in order to teach, grade or tutor a course;
- To be hired as a grader, undergraduate students must have completed the course with a B or better. Graduate students must have competed an equivalent course or be concurrently enrolled in an equivalent course.
Application Procedures
Contact the Department Chair to express your interest in the position. Indicate the specific class(es) you are interested in, whether you would like to be considered for a grader or TA position, and explain why you think you’d be uniquely qualified for that position.
Applications must be received by four weeks before the start of the semester for full
consideration. Applications will be screened on an as-received basis. Applicants not
hired will be notified by 1st week of semester.

Applicants will be screened according to their academic performance and the extent to which they meet the qualifications described above.
