Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) Club Room (E182)

If you don't have a code to E182, please contact the BME front office for further information on how to get access. You need to be a member of the national BMES first. There are tables, lockers, computers, a microwave etc. It is a great place to go to study and meet other students in the major.

Please Note: All codes with the exception of the clubroom ENG 182 require a faculty signature.

BME Undergraduate Advising

You don't need to wait for advising time to see your advisor. If something big comes up or you want to drop a class, you definitely should be discussing this with your advisor. 

BME Graduate Advising

If you are a graduate student, please contact your advisor.

BME Student Google Groups

The department uses Google Groups to keep all students informed about advising, classes, job announcements, relevant guest speakers, industry tours, etc. Make sure your email is on the appropriate Google Groups. Please contact the BME department front office.

BME Student On Campus Employment Opportunities

There are some job opportunities in the department for graders and graduate teach assistants (TAs). See the Student Employment site for application information. Please contact the Career Center for employment opportunities outside the BME department.

Trouble With Classes

Make sure you are keeping up on your reading and homework assignments. Go to class regularly and study in groups. It helps to talk about your ideas with others. A good way to make group studying effective is to first study on your own (do the reading assignment, make a list of questions, and try to start the homework assignment).

Then, get together as a group and discuss everyone's questions on the reading and the homework.

Lastly, if you are having problems don't forget about your instructor. We are there to help you! Come to office hours or email your instructor with your questions.

College Computer Room

E390 - 20 workstations, 1 networked printer; Open from 7AM - 10PM M-F

Two types of log on accounts:

1. Guest account/no printer access
2. Enrolled student with valid ID, can print 150 pages/semester, four pages at a time

Paper is filled at 9AM and 4PM, 2000 total printed page a day

Engineering Student Success Center

The Charles W. Davidson College of Engineering Student Success Center (ESSC) assists undergraduate students in increasing their level of academic success and knowledge. In part, this is accomplished by helping students understand university requirements, policies, and procedures as well as by fostering a community of support. For more info, drop by E344.

SJSU Writing Center

The SJSU Writing Center is located in Room 126 in Clark Hall. It is staffed by professional instructors and upper-division or graduate-level writing specialists from each of the seven SJSU colleges. Their writing specialists have met a rigorous GPA requirement, and they are well trained to assist all students at all levels within all disciplines to become better writers. They offer free drop-in and by appointment writing sessions as well as workshops and online tutorials.

King Library

Most of you know of the library, but do you know of all it's hidden resources? You can reserve the small study rooms (great for group study work). There are a lot of helpful tutorials online on topics like citing & writing, evaluating information, and search tips. You can also make an appointment with the engineering librarian to get help on searching and referencing.

Career Center

Be sure to register for the Career Center[BROKEN LINK]. They have free workshops on resumes, interviewing, etc. You can make an appointment for a specialist to work on your resume with you. They have large internship and full time job fairs and an online job database.

Learning Assistance Resource Center

The Learning Assistance Resource Center (LARC)[BROKEN LINK] is located in Room 600 in the Student Services Center. It is designed to assist students in the development of their full academic potential and to motivate them to become self-directed learners. The center provides free support services, such as skills assessment, individual or group tutorials, subject advising, learning assistance, summer academic preparation, and basic skills development.

Peer Mentor Center

The Peer Mentor Center is located on the 1st floor of Clark Hall in the Academic Success Center. The Peer Mentor Center is staffed with Peer Mentors who excel in helping students manage university life and tackle problems that range from academic challenges to interpersonal struggles. On the road to graduation, Peer Mentors are navigators, offering "roadside assistance" to peers who feel a bit lost or simply need help mapping out the locations of campus resources. Peer Mentor services are free and available on a drop-in basis, no reservation required.

Student Health Center

The health center is free to all students for drop in or by appointment care. You can have an regular check-up or go with a specific question. (They do not handle emergencies. For emergencies, call 911 or campus police). They also have a number of health and wellness workshops.

Counseling Services

There is a free counseling service[BROKEN LINK] for students that takes both drop in and appointments. They handle the spectrum from depression, homesickness, stress, and academic study skills.

Associates Students Site

The Associated Students website hosts a range of resources including child care, recreation facilities, print shop, and transportation passes.

AEC (formerly DRC)

SJSU's Accessible Education Center[BROKEN LINK] is a free service to students to help them with their learning or other disabilities. If you suspect that you have a learning disability but have not been tested, they can help you start the process of understanding, assessing, and dealing with your difficulties.
