Dear campus community,
With the shelter-in-place order extension still in place, it is clear that the current coronavirus pandemic will not end any time soon. Even while we await guidance from the state, county, and Chancellor’s Office, SJSU leaders are planning for the range of possibilities that our community may face in the Fall 2020 semester.
In the coming weeks, we will engage various campus and student leadership to develop recovery plans for variety of university priorities, including:
- Teaching and learning
- Student life and housing
- Technology and infrastructure
- Research and innovation
- Athletics and the arts
In short, everything we do and how we do it as a university will need to be considered in our planning effort.
Though all of the elements for the Fall 2020 semester are different and complex in their own right, protecting the health and safety of our entire campus community and limiting the spread of the COVID-19 virus will remain the guiding principle, just as it has since the beginning of the outbreak. I remain firm in my belief that we will emerge from this, and I am optimistic that the Fall 2020 semester will be the first big step in our road to recovery.
Please watch for more details on our Fall 2020 planning efforts. In the meantime, continue to watch out for each other, stay safe and remember that we are all in this together.
