About Us
Housed within SJSU's College of Information, Data and Society, the Silicon Valley Center for Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity (CAIC) is a recognized entity dedicated to advancing program development in teaching and research in artificial intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity. The center addresses the significant public and private interests in these critical fields, which are vital to the security, commerce and information flow in the United States. Through partnerships with Silicon Valley companies, the CAIC creates a robust nexus of knowledge, driving innovation and leadership in AI and cybersecurity.
The Center’s ongoing AI and cybersecurity initiatives include:
- Developing the next generation of AI and cybersecurity professionals.
- Developing grant proposals to advance research and industry collaboration.
- Promoting and expanding existing degree programs.
- Providing cutting-edge professional training.
- Increasing interest in AI and cybersecurity in K-12 through outreach programs.
The Center is co-led by Tonia San Nicolas-Rocca, Associate Professor for the School of Information and Simon Shim, Department Chair and Professor for the Department of Applied Data Science. Together, they bring visionary leadership and expertise to the Center's mission.
