Other Conduct of Concern (OCC)

Sometimes, behavior may not violate laws or formal policies, yet still raises concern due to its negative impact on the learning, living, or working environment at SJSU. Actions that undermine a safe and professional atmosphere must be acknowledged and appropriately addressed when they arise. These behaviors may include, but are not limited to, intimidation, bullying, bias, microaggressions, or forms of harassment that do not meet the threshold for violating the Nondiscrimination Policy—such as when they are not persistent, pervasive, or severe. For example, refusing to work respectfully with others and making personal attacks can hurt the overall atmosphere on campus.

While we uphold free speech and consider academic freedom a fundamental principle of higher education, behavior that harms any member of our campus community remains a serious concern and should be reported.
